Why isn't my external dvd drive working?

External dvd drive not working

Hi all. I have a linx 10 tablet and because I'm a music junkie I brought an external drive to rip CDs to I tunes. I brought the Samsung SE-208. When I plug it in you can hear it connecting then dropping off. Do I need to power the USB port is that why its not working?

Maybe the drive is not receiving enough power input, most of tablets only have their USB ports in low power mode since batteries cannot give too much juice... So, you may need a powered USB hub to give the sufficient power output for the portable drive.
