why Nokia Lumia 720- does not recognize wifi connection created by my windows 7 laptop?

Hi, I am trying to share my braoadband internet from my windows 7 laptop. I tried creating an adhoc network using the normal windows 7 feature. But my lumia 720 fails to recognize the wifi. Can some body please help me to understand why is it happening this way..
