Why the big difference between prices for 640 XL and 640 XL LTE in India?

I am planning to buy 640 XL and noticed the price difference between 640 XL and 640 XL LTE to be Rs. 5100/- (i.e. around $78 of difference)
640 XL price: Rs. 13400/- i.e. $206
640 XL LTE price: Rs. 18500/- i.e. $285

Is the LTE feature that expensive to get? Or Microsoft trying to encash on the popularity of the 640 XL?

Have a look at the official technical specifications from Microsoft:

The difference in price may be in the fact that these two have different operating frequencies, which means different sets of hardware (antenna, drivers, etc.).

I don't think Microsoft is that crude, and mostly these price differences are well-justified. If Microsoft wanted to take advantage of the popularity of the Lumia 640XL, they would have brought the price up of the non-LTE version instead, bringing it closer but not exactly the same as the price of the LTE-version.

Got my 640 XL LTE from a Microsoft store for Rs.17300/- (actual price announced for LTE in India), along with a protective case as a freebie.

LTE means 4G may be thats why! although i checked flipkart few days ago n difference in price was only 1000rs!

Really?? Its almost 4000+... Normally 3G and 4G versions will be having proice difference of 1k or max 2k. But in this case it is different. I was also looking to buy 640xl lte.
But now thinking of buying refurbished l1520 if I get it for 20K. Very confused. 640xl lte new or refurbished l1520.
