Why won't my apps launch from the start menu?

10061 - Apps won't launch from start menu

Just had 10061 install and now apps don't launch from the start menu. Everything is there but any non-windows 10 app will not launch. I can launch calendar and other win 10 apps fine and desktop shortcuts work - just not from the start menu.

any ideas?
