Why won't my Windows phone update?

I have the windows phone 8x by HTC. I am unable to get windows 8.1 downloaded when in settings. How can I get that fixed?

First try a soft reset and then check the update again... if nothing happens, then you can use the WP recovery tool for PC, now it works with WP HTC devices. You can download it here.

The recovery tool will download the latest stable version software for your phone.
