Why wouldnt my surfpro4 turn on for hours?

screen was black and wouldn't turn on. suddenly, it said it was "updating"...is that normal??

yea it was doing a scheduled update... when you choose not to manually update when you have new updates, then windows does it for you according to your set time that you don't use your device...but it shouldn't have taken "hours" to do it...
