I know there's a lot of discussion about Microsoft not going well with windows phone. Microsoft has change their strategy: they'll share their strong point products to gain more consumer, they'll only make cheap phones because its a lot more marketable (not sure with this one, correct me if I'm wrong). So if they'll going to share their goodies to other OS's which really works well than their own WP's what are the benefits except for getting better quality? Will you still stay on windows phone?... This got me thinking, if they share their strong points, Androids and IOS will going to benefit more and they'll get a better services than what we can get on wp. Come guys share your opinions, hates, thoughts or whatever that is related to the topic

Remember that MS makes more money from Android sales than it does from WP sales (MS patents are used in the Android OS). So it would make sense to encourage Android sales to maintain a steady stream of income.

Cortana really only exists for US users. The UK beta is terrible, so much so I prefer to use the standard Bing search - it's quicker and more accurate. Of course, Bing can't set reminders, but that's not a big deal for me. Cortana is so poor it's quicker for me to do such things manually.

Is Android better - in some ways, yes; but mainly it's just different. I do like Android, but I don't like Google having so much of my information, and profiting from my data.

WP is a good alternative. Marketed correctly, it had a promising future.

Where is the "lot better alternative" you speak of. WP uses the same chips as their android counterparts and iPhones x64 processors show no real world benefit. The Operating Systems each have significant drawbacks, and none of them live up to their promises. At the end of the day they are only meant to browse the internet and make phone calls, both of which work really well on all three platforms.

Ms is first a software and services company. Keeping thier products I everyone's hands is a smart move. With their focus on windows 10 I believe their other software services on phones will be up to par on wp10. As far as low end phones, their focus on them is smart as the low end market is one of the few growing markets and is still up for grabs. They will continue to make high end phones as they must to stay relevant in the market. I am very happy with their phone os. I know each os has their benefits and cons but windows cons are forgiveable and pros I really enjoy so I will stay with wp.

Don't know how this will end up. I was going to have a high end WP and a low end (backup) Android phone. But I decided to have mid WP and mid Android so no matter what happens I'm good. But I like WP much more.

I will stay with Lumia because I like the way wp os is updated even in low end or mid end. Many androids still on jelly bean .But we WP users except carrier locked devices are on wp 8.1.For this reason I will stay with WP even it miss those apps. For me I love live tiles nd the way wp I smooth even on my 2 year old phone Lumia 820 am amazed how wp does this whereas my xperia c lags ND hangs.

Because Windows Phone is one of the greatest experiences of all time. Because the alternatives aren't any better. I've used all three major ecosystems, Windows Phone was my latest, and my final. I'll stick with it no matter what~ unless it completely gets abandoned by Microsoft, which obviously isn't gonna happen. It's gonna get even better with the convergence with Windows 10. I've only been with Windows Phone for a year, and already there has been a major update, Windows Phone 8.1. People act like Microsoft isn't showing support for Windows Phone, but since I've started using it, the biggest update I've had on any platform happened, and Microsoft has released numerous apps for WP, including games such as Age of Empires, and they announced a second Halo for Windows Phone. If that's not support, I don't know what is.

When I used Android, the updates barely could be considered updates. I had to troubleshoot the device and use anti-virus stuff and task managers. I'm sorry, but that's not something I want to worry about when I'm using a cell phone. Windows Phone just works, and it's fast, and stable.

IOS was a huge pain. It was incredibly boring. iTunes was the WORST thing ever to have to use. So yeah..... Windows Phone ftw.

Well actually WP os is terrible, its slow, and the IE is a pain to use but I still choose it over my iPhone 6 and in fact I dont find IOS really exciting to use. If only Microsoft works like the cyanogenmod devs it would be a perfect OS

You're pretty much right windows phone has personality in it unlike the IOS which is yeah, its boring but Apple/Android gave what users really need which is the easier UI and much more flexibility on Android and every year Apple is trying to refine their os making it easier, cleaner to use and each year their putting new features to make much more pleasurable as for android every year their tying to make Android much more flexible and more on geeky/nerdy stuff where you can do whatever you want they may not clean as WP and IOS but they're powerful and more twickable. WP haven't got there yet and I think it is still a young OS exploring the world .

Windows Phone has lots of features now, but yeah, it is young compared to IOS and Android. It has a much more modern feeling UI, and it's a joy to use. Maybe watching it progress is part of the joy.

Windows Phone is THE lot better alternative in my eyes.
Just in feel, efficiency, and design, which I enjoy.
It lacks some touches, but it has many nice touches of its own as well, but no its always about what Android and iOS have that WP doesn't, its never what WP has that the others don't.

that's because WP doesn't have anything worthwhile to mention that the others don't have. Its still missing some things that the others have and anything it has that the others DO have, most of the time its implemented worse or within a limitation that the others don't have.

If Microsoft's services don't work well on other OS, there's a problem, if they work well, again there's a problem.
MS is being good to users on other OSes by providing their services to them. They want the people using other OSes to be happy with their services. Well that's not the case with Google, hence we don't have official apps of Google for that.

Slow? Really?
I have my 28 month old Lumia 710, never faced problems in it, never! Even when it had just 1 Mb memory remaining, it ran smoothly without any lag or decrease in speed. IE has always been great, even on my 1320.
My 1320 is 10 months old now, still I haven't encountered a single problem, neither on wp8, nor on WP 8.1, even when it had just 760 kb memory remaining.
I could give a long list of limitations of other OSes too.
No OS is perfect & there can never be. Its always sad to see people wanting those iOS/Android features in WP, but not paying attention to the features which WP has & other OSes don't.

No I'm not talking about the hardware, its more than enough to run windows phone OS though. If you're using other OS which are perfected you'll gonna notice the slowness of windows phone OS. I'm not bashing WP I just like it to grow more and have more useful features in software and hardware.

The others are still stuck on icons. Those were okay on my Palm V 14 years ago, but don't really belong on a mobile device that's supposed to provide quick information. That alone makes Android and iOS not worth considering for me. The other stuff you said is true, but you're completely wrong on the first part.

Yeah, it has that unique features that are mostly in personality and feeling, its why I also I find IOS boring it doesn't have that personality that windows phone has. As for Android, nah, I don't like UI, its doesn't have that clean feel to it, not sure about the cyanogenmod I think it has the simplicity to it.

Annnnd another one of THESE posts... I understand tho is an open forum but how many times do these types of threads need to be started. Its like a "which spark plug is better" thread on an auto forum. Its not going to provide useful insight, only preference. Once again, if some of you feel better about another OS, click the tab at the too and swich OS forums.

Errrrr... I think slow is not correct association to WP.
It's extraordinary smooth, even in low devices.
Lumia 520 could open a phonebook faster than my Galaxy Note.
Are you sure you didn't use Android-OS-which-imitate-WP-looks? Because both are different like heaven and hell.
