That isn't Wi-Fi direct.
Closest thing you'll get currently. WP has it but there's no ability to use it currently.
MS did add the functionality to select WP's by adding Miracast (which works using WiFi direct). It just needs to open up for more phones and should be able to transfer user files.
Miracast is for audio and video. It's not what most people want out of WiFi Direct and I don't think Miracast will add file sharing.
WiFi Direct file sharing is what people want and I believe, though I could be wrong, WP has this capability, since WP8.1, the issue is that it doesn't have any apps that use the function. It should be part of the 'sharing' function.
