I haven't found a use for it either, but I really don't have a need to find hotspots in my neighbourhood. I could see it being useful if I were travelling and needing free WiFi.

I've found it handy when I walk into some cafes with free WiFi hotspots (my phone just does most of the work for me), otherwise not really tbh

Most of the places I go that have free WiFi already have the sign on the door, but you're right. I have WiFi Sense enabled, so my phone will popup the network and ask me if I want to connect.
