Will 30 GB of backup hold a system image for recovery ?

My Lenovo Home desk top PC is asking for 122 GB to backup 3 built in drives. Surely this cannot be right?

A recovery image to revert a computer to factory condition? That's usually 8-ish GB.

However, an image (a snapshot) of an entire PC, which includes files, programs, etc. has no limit.

If I were to make an bit-for-bit image of my PC, I would need just shy of 210 GB, not counting the second hard-drive. But my backup solution is just files.
