Will a Hard Reset downgrade my OS and firmware?

Probably a silly question, but I want to be completely sure. My battery is a bit haywire, and I want to try hard restart to fix it.

Are we talking a phone or tablet. I never got downgraded when I do factory resets. I did one yesterday for my Lumia.
