Windows Central Question
During one of the many BUILD 2015 presentations, Microsoft demoed USB OTG support and how it will work on Lumia smartphones.
Microsoft claims that USB OTG support is limited to devices with USB dual-role hardware support, which is why the feature was demoed on a prototype Lumia smartphones.
As pointed out by the guys at NPU, the device which was used for the demo was a brand-new development Nokia Lumia smartphone (phablet ) that might or might not be offered to developers after Windows 10 gets released, but for now it's one of the few that support USB OTG.
You might be thinking what is USB DUAL ROLE HARDWARE?
For those who dont know, USB Dual Role specifies the power supply source of the link between the two connected devices, with the OTG A-device being the source and also the initial host. The host/peripheral relation can be exchanged at a latter stage.
Well this also means that USB OTG support is limited to devices with USB dual-role hardware support, which is why the feature was demoed on a prototype Lumia smartphones.
