Windows 10 is stuck downloading an update. What can I do

Downloaded update last night. Installed this morning. "Getting windows ready. Don't turn off computer" has been on screen for 30 mintues

Make sure you don't turn off the computer!

Switching off the computer can corrupt the file system and leave the computer unusable.

Depending on the updates, it can take some time. Give it time to finish what it is doing. Many times, the progress indicator will lie to you and will not move, until finally it is done.

If after a few hours it still hasn't finished, then check back with us and give us more information if possible.
