Windows 10 Mobile support extended to 2020?

According to Microsoft's Windows lifecycle fact sheet, Windows 10 build 1703 will be supported through October 13, 2020.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet

The non-mobile version of the OS also has an extended support option, through October 14, 2025. But that does not apply to Windows 10 Mobile or Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise.

I read in the news that Microsoft had announced that Windows Mobile 10 support would end next year. And then I read on a blog that the date was being changed yet again.

But this official lifecycle data sheet seems to indicate that our phone will receive updates (even if they are just security patches) for another three years--which is great news if it is true.

Since a few new third-party Windows 10 Mobile phones just shipped, and with the new
Verizon version of the HP Elite x3, it does make sense that the support would need to be extended for at least those devices.

Does anyone have insights here? I really love using Windows phones.

Don't believe everything you read online man. You want info you best bet to contact Microsoft them self to find out whats going on. :) A lot of tech sites are not always 100% accurate. :)

With the recent W10M Fast Ring build W10M is officially getting changed to Version 1709. MS supports every new version of Windows for 2 years so W10M will receive updates at least till 2019

Personally, I wouldn't trust anything MSFT says or does since their track record in the mobile field speaks for itself.

At this point, and the way I see it, you either stay and accept the platforms uncertainty, or you move on. Past history has proven the likelihood of getting the straight scoop is slim to none and even then, chances are pretty good, whatever MSFT decides, the probability of them changing their minds will be a given.

A new build is an update. This does nothing to change the end of support date.
End of support for W10M is still Jan, 2018
