So I am considering installing Windows 10 TP on my Surface Pro 3 so I can start to play with the OS. I have some questions that other community members might be able to answer so I am asking them!

In order to help answer my questions here is a bit about myself and how I use the SP3. I am a System/Sales Engineer. I travel frequently and use the SP3 when doing site surveys to take pictures and notes. I use it to take notes while in meetings with customers. As an avid gamer I also use it when I am gaming on my Xbox One or PC for various uses. I have a few work related programs, but their developers quickly updated them for Windows 8 so I don't see that being an issue. They worked on Windows 8 prior to those developers officially supporting the OS anyways. I'm not inept when it comes to this stuff either - my background is in networking and physical security (CCENT, Security+, various security industry certs).

1. What features from 8.1 Pro are not present in 10 TP? I know some features may have moved, been altered, or revamped - I am not worried about those as I can adapt to the changes. I am looking for the features that are stripped out (for whatever reason) as of now.

2. Integration between Windows 10 TP and other Microsoft services. Sounds like a stupid question, but one I have to ask. I am deeply invested in the MS ecosystem. I rely heavily on my SP3, 1520, and Icon daily. The sync between the three devices is wonderful. Will any of the current functionality be lost?

3. Can anyone who has been running 10 TP on their SP3 and use it as their main device offer advice and/or their thoughts?

Thanks!

I havent used it on a SP3, but I'll give my opinion based on my desktop and laptops use:

my first opinion, is if you rely on it for work, its not a good idea, its pretty stable for the most part, I have ran into a few minor things here and there, but there is one bug that would tell me not to do it: crash

This has only happened to me once, but it has happened, windows was fine, reboot my computer, and basically, windows would boot loop my system, I tried everything I could think of from doing a loading up safe mode, to running an sfc scan, to running a full system refresh, to even installing a new version of windows over the old no avail. I ended up having to wipe the drive clean and then install 10 to get it working again. This was with the last TP build, so it could very well be fixed, it could have also been a very specific issue, but because of this issue, Id say its not worth putting it on an important device, for just goofing around on though, it should be just fine!

I have windows 10 on my PC and surface pro 1 and have not had any issues (outside of common bugs). my companies software works great and I can work a complete 10 hour work day with no issues. I would not recommend it if it had given me any real issues, but it has not.

pros to win 10: all the start menu babies are getting what they want.
Cons to win 10: Everyone who has had the metro interface grow on us are screwed.

major Pro - win 10 on everything I own.

Make sure you check out the other threads in this forum. There's plenty of opinions.
I loaded it on my SP3. The desktop is ok. I miss the hot corners from 8.1. The tablet experience has been horrible. And that's mostly from the browser point of view. It might be better when Spartan comes out. 8.1 made it very convenient when holding a tablet and using your thumbs. 10 has ripped all of that out. A lot more hand movement is needed.

Onedrive is till integrated so your syncing should be fine. You won't have the previews anymore for the files. I haven't gone back to 8.1 on my SP3 even though I've thought about it. I want to experience what is bad and put it in the feedback.
