When to expect? Any rumours?

No there's no rumours but since the new OS won't be until next year 'sometime' then you can probably guess when the phone will be coming out.

Way too early even for rumors. My hope is that MS puts out a top of the line phone shortly after windows 10 launch. How about a Surface Phone?

The Windows 10 flagship is probably just launching on June or July of 2015. And I guess we won't see any new Lumia phones till there.

I heard on AAWP podcast from one of the hosts who is really up on his stuff that Microsoft has committed to bringing 10 to most of the Lumia devices. Specificity the ones with the snapdragon 200,400 and 800 processors. The reason WP8 didn't carry over for WP7 devices was due to the shift of the underlying kernel. Microsoft made a huge changed from the old CE based programming and as such made it impossible for phones running WP7 to "upgrade". The good news is that change really laid the groundwork for where we are headed today with the ability of one code to run on multiple devices. Hence Windows 10. Long story short is impossible to say if every phone will get 10 but I'd be willing to bet most current generation phones and even older flagships do.

I know that the date of June/July 2015 is mostly conjecture at this point, but would the new OS launch on phones that far ahead of the desktop? From what I heard Windows 10 for PC is expected to launch around the normal time of October. I would think that it would launch on both desktop and mobile at least somewhat simultaneously.

Windows Phone 7 devices were dumped for a reason. The entire OS had a fundamental shift at it's base. But that base was all in preparation for this Windows 10 unified system, meaning that WP8.1 and WP8 devices will have no issues running Windows 10. UNLESS carriers block vital firmware or OEM's decide to not build new firmware for the devices that is required etc.

Preview For Developers will allow people to install the OS most likely without intervention from carriers BUT if it requires special new firmware and the OEM doesn't deem the device worthy of writing new firmware for it, then that device probably wont be upgraded.

What I need is a device with a similar build to the L920. The 920 is built like a tank and I keep it in my pocket without any case, it does not need it. Wish list: 5" IPS LCD 1920x1280, 32 GB internal/ 2GB RAM, Snapdragon quad-core 802, sd card slot, 20 MP Pureview camera and all the other bells and whistles of a flagship phone. Oh... and Qi enabled on AT&T, damn them for screwing up the 1520, though it's too big for my pocket.

How many times are people gonna bring this up. YES, wp8 devices will ALL be upgradable, its been confirmed officially a few times now! You people stop holding the WP7 thing over Microsofts head already, its done, get over it.
