Hey All!
So I've been curious for a little while if anybody had installed the preview on their phone (latest build) and how it was running on the 640. I am most concerned about battery life more than anything because I was running a few builds back on my other phone and the drain on it was way too much for me. I honestly am fine with the small glitches here and there as I know its a pre-release OS so these things are expected as of now. Opinions/ Experience on all of this?

Battery drain is quite a bit high on Win10 preview regardless of device.
Thanks, yeah that's what I was thinking I just didn't know if it was worse on some devices over others. I can deal with my start screen loading slow but if I have to charge my phone every few hours that's a deal breaker for me!

My 830 lasted a whole day and I have terrible signal at work but on 8.1 I would still have about 50% left when I started to drive back home whereas on Win10 I would have usually around 30% so the drain is worse but not bad enough to require a charge during the day at least for my use. But if you have good signal and don't play a lot of games or stream videos during the day, you should be okay.

Oh okay, yeah that isn't as what I would experience with my old 810 I'd get 3-4 hours of total use on it (I assume due to it being older hardware as well as having a smaller battery would factor into the time being much shorter). I have moderate use normally on my phones during the day though so I'd probably have enough if it drains as you say.

Been on latest W10 build on my 640 for two weeks now.
Few bugs but the battery is fine, I play by same rules as when on 8.1
Flight mode when I go to bed, location off when phone not in use and bluetooth off except for driving.
Still getting 2 full days (phone on 24/7), sometimes more/less depending on how much I use it for browsing etc. with wifi.

Bluetooth keeps dropping connection to headset when driving but click of button restores the link.
Had problem with it detecting apps on sd card but a reboot/scan restored everything.

Can you tell me which OS version you're running?

Blah, my mistake, sorry. What I wanted to know is which OS version were you runing before upgrading to Windows 10. I saw that Microsoft said that some OS versions, the last one to be precise, is not safe to upgrade since it can brick your phone, this applies only to Lumia 640.

I had the latest tech build on my 640 about three weeks. No worries on battery life. Lasted me the day, only bug that was present was the phone freezing during calls, and some other annoyances that made me go back to 8.1 but don't get me wrong I was very impressed with the build quality

Hmm haven't heard that before will have to look that up. I've bricked one phone already and my micro usb port was broken (using wireless charging) so it killed my phone.

Yeah those normally don't bother me too much although sometimes if apps I use aren't compatible yet that can get annoying.

I have been running 10166 as my daily driver (640) for almost as long as its been released.

The battery drainage on 10166 is much better than the previous build. I have been able to get through the day without a charge for most of the days. I don't remember ever being close to running out during the work, and that included a one hour Pandora session over Wi-Fi and normal work usage (email, calls, texts, nothing too strenuous).

If you can tolerate some of the idiosyncrasies, it should be okay. It all depends on what your definition of "small" is regarding issues. Here is a sample-
1) Occasionally, the screen will freeze after a call. Doesn't matter if it taken over BT or not. Remedy is a soft reset.
2) Notifications (calendar reminders, text messages) for me are sporadic.
3) WiFi calling doesn't appear to work yet.

I did have one issue that caused me to use the Windows Phone Recovery tool to get back to 8.1 to get back to 10166. My store wouldn't open at all, and a hard reset didn't work (I let the hard reset go overnight too).

If you can deal with a few of those issues, then its no problem at all. IMO. YMMV.

It's wasn't so much the battery drain that got, it was the app store bugs. There were always a few apps that refused to update like Touch and Skype. Every time I tried I would get an error message and an error code. Also the Edge browser was messing with my bank's mobile site leaving me unable to check my account.

Is getting real close, just not quite stable enough for all day use
