Windows 11 Compact View does not work

I am trying to set up my files so I can view in normal 'compact view' and have tried every suggestion offered. The compact view is checked, reg has been changed, etc. but nothing has changed. Very frustrating. I have run every diagnostics I can find but no change. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
