I have Windows 11 on my unsupported Dell XPS 18 computer. Like you my computer is doing great.

My thoughts is that Microsoft telling peeps that the update will not be installed on non supported computers is a scheme to sell computers.

You are absolutely very much right. Microsoft had right for their product to launch as per their policies, planning and strategies but they never discourage their existing users because after all general users and specially insiders are always appreciated by Microsoft in past.
