So I Installed Windows 8.1 on my main box today. I currently only have Windows 8.1 on my laptop. I used a new hard drive. During the setup it matched my email up with my laptop and asked me if I wanted to sync my laptop setup with my main box and I said, No, treat it as a new installation.

I complete the new installation on my main box and I start to go to a few websites. All these websites through IE already have my username and password, so obviously all this information from my laptop is stored in the Microsoft Cloud. How safe is that? What if the Microsoft Cloud server gets hacked? Windows 8.1 is just too intrusive.

I believe you have to go into settings and choose not to sync bookmarks.

I told it during the installation not to sync anything from my laptop. I would have thought that was enough. Now I just installed the Chrome browser and all my bookmarks popped up and I have no idea if that came from the Microsoft or the Google Cloud. This is crazy.
