Windows account locked with no possibility of recovery

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me. My problem is detailed below-
I cannot recover my password or get a code sent as my recovery email address is incorrect. its gmail.CON INSTEAD OF COM. I have tried to resove this issue multiple times via the account recovery procedure and even raised an enquiry with the windows escalation team but the utterly incompetent person who dealt with it just redirected me back to the account password recovery page on the windows site!!!!
The problem is that my windows phone is locked to the live.com account which i created at initial setup and the phone does not provide me with an option of changing that account. Thus, i am stuck in the situation where i cannot recover my live.com account and the phone will not update any apps as the account is not usable. Furthermore, i cannot replace the live.com account on my phone with any other microsoft account as there is no option to delete the live. com account and replace it with another account.
Any help in this regard will be welcome as i would like to update my windows phone and i cannot do so as my live.com account is not usable and the phone is locked to the live.com account.
