Surface Book just updated with these:
- 2017-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4041691)
- Surface - System - 8/1/2017 12:00:00 AM - 1.0.85.1

Right after reboot it wouldn't do Windows Hello. Said it couldn't turn on the camera. Windows Hello controls in the settings app says Windows Hello isn't available. No hardware issues shown in Device Manager or devices & printers.
This is ridiculous.

I had the a similar (actually identical) problem with an update that came out during the summer. I tried everything including reinstalling drivers, rolling them back, etc.
The only thing that worked was running System Restore to before the update was installed. After restoring, I hid the update so it wouldn't come up again.

These days I always create a restore point and a system image with Macrium Reflect, before each system update.
Both MS & Intel are complete idiots when it comes to testing their drivers.

I hope this helps you. Windows normally creates a restore point before any update automatically, so try reverting to that.

updated from 1607 to 1703 and Windows Hello works better and faster now. MS must have had an incompatibility with the new driver update and older Win 10 version.
