Windows phone become slow after months ?

Lumia 822 with 64GB SD card and no speed issues. In the more than a year, I have turned it off and restarted 6+ times due to downloading seeming to hang. Restart resolves the downloading issue.

You can press and hold to select "Cancel Download." You could try that, rather than having to wait for a full shut-down and start-up cycle.

Been using windows phone from day one, several devices: never slowed down.

As i understand it; android devices slow down, over time, because they didn't have trim support enabled, for main memory (trim is the process of memory management undertaken to delete and clean up the memory, used on modern ssd drives etc).

I believe android got trim from jellybean 4.3. Wp, ios and bb10 have had it since day one, so don't experience that slowdown build up, over time.

Updated to black a week back, and the phone is still fast as ever , even after 2-3 updates. WP is really good.

That is the thing that I really love about WP. My 920 is over a year old and smooth and fast like new.

Only Android has this issue. Not Windows Phone. iPhones don't have this problem neither, unless new OS is slow.

5 month old 1020 running perfectly, if not slightly quicker (at resuming apps) after the Black update. I will admit that the animations when launching an app can stutter....but the apps still load in the same amount of time from launch to loaded.

I own a 620 since seven months now and yeas, I have the same issues as OP.

It's not that often but when it happens the screens doesn't respond, or the scrolling lags. I have to lock-unlock the screen to see everything back to normal. The Black update was available for the 620 in my country only last week, I made it full of hope and a few hours ago I experimented the same troubles again.

It happens rarely though, like 2-3 times a week (not so much since I use my phone a lot) but when it does it's quite embarrassing. But this doesn't alters my love for Windows Phone at all, still the mobile OS that fits the best with my needs.

edit: It may have something to do with the number of applications running background... I have notifications asking me to un-authorize some from time to time.

Reinstall few apps , cache might be the issue [Check which app is having high app data using Storage Check or similar app]
I face no troubles at all, super snappy Just fed up of loading and resuming issue in some apps , I hope developers will fix that soon.

I tried to reinstall apps, soft reset, hard reset, change touch sensitivity… Sometimes it helps few days. I don't have too much apps, I just check my e-mails, calendars, contacts, two photos a month, no games, sometimes Here Maps when needed and listen music on microSD card (the problem is the same without the SD card…). I have more than 3 Gb free of disk, 20 on the SD card…

And when I say unresponsive, it could be (not every time, not everything at the same time) :
- I can't answer a call,
- I have to lock/unlock four times to click on something,
- scroll impossible, or totally random,
- when I click somewhere, it clicks few centimeters away ! When I click to Messages, it launch Cal !
- when I'm typing a SMS or an e-mail, the phone add letters or spaces alone, even if I put away my finger.

What is really weird is it seems software, because reset, updates, reboot help for few days. If it's hardware, soft reset should not working… I call Nokia tomorrow…
