Volume down and power button pressed at the same time.this is soft reset...

How you can reset device without opening lock screen??

Hold down Volume Down, Power Button and the Camera Button simultaneously for 10 or more seconds, until your device vibrates. I think that's it. Not very sure though, as I haven't had to perform a hard reset in ages.
