Wired Headset Microphone Issue

Hey, guys. I'm having a bit of an issue with my headset. I just got a set of Diddy Beats and though the headphone and remote parts are working, I'm getting nothing from the microphone. I'm using an LG Quantum and have tested the mic out on another phone and it works perfectly. Is this a software issue or could the microphone port be out? Haven't tried it before with an other wired headset. Thanks so much.

I haven't tested it myself, but i've been told that this is a problem with wp right now - that non-official wired mics don't work for some reason. I'm old iphones do this sometimes too, but i'm not sure.

What I do know, is that on my Focus, if I use another set of headphones besides the ones it came with, I lose the "hold down windows button voice commands" thing until i plug the "real" headphones back in, or restart. It just stops hearing me.
