Wireless charging a Nokia DC-50

I have the free Nokia DT-601 I got with my phone and I love it.

I just recently got the Nokia DC-50 portable wireless charger but I am having trouble charging this on my DT-601. I know it is possible as once out of a 100 times I got it charging. But it is so frustrating trying to find the sweet spot.

Does anyone know if its just me or is this a common problem?

Turns out you need to put the thing sideways.
