I'm sure smarter people than me knew about this, but 1) the Icon indeed has the SensorCore touted in the new 930 2) you don't have to wait for Lumia Cyan to use it as a pedometer. There is a boringly-named but intriguing app called "Nokia Motion Monitor":

Sure, it overcounts a bit but if you are mostly curious about comparing activity across days that's not a huge issue. It does some nice visualization tricks which probably won't be in Bing Fitness but at least I'll enjoy them for now.

Best part: can't notice any negative effect on battery life in the past week I've been using it.

Nokia Motion Monitor is designed for snap dragon 800(quad core ) chipsets. I t uses one of the core which does not have a huge impact on phone battery life. It calculates steps taken further more it shows steps count on glance screen (sorry icon does not support glance at moment ) but it does show on Lumia 1520. This is a very neat app from Nokia(Microsoft mobile).

You know something we don't know? I'd give my right arm for Glance on Icon. I would've paid $50 more for a screen that had enough "display memory" or whatever is lacking...

MM will post # of steps on the lock screen, though it is updated only periodically.
