Does it mean that WP8 will be obsolete just like WP7 is because of WP8?

God... If this is true I will quit and only return when they fulfil all of my desires. I am really upset about the news. I really want to like WP but this news was the last drop. Everything in vain once more?
Great. Now I will be forced to buy an Android phone because iPhones are way too expensive here...

Thanks Microsoft... :unhappy:

I will say what replies didnt explain.but no, it wont be obsolete, stop jumping into conclusions before knowing the details.
But the reason Wp7 was dropped was because Wp8 has NT kernel. so how is Wp7 to winpho8 the same as merging platforms? do you know Wp8 already have some sort of WinRT apis and such? overlapped but not 100% coverage, but still WP has it. but of course the goal Microsoft wants its to target 1 app to multiple devices, and while it can be somehow done a little with WinRT, the process its not like "send it to Windows Phone 8 and run it with no change in code" you can see here the state of WinRT vs WinPRT http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windowsphone/develop/ff626516(v=vs.105).aspx

you shouldnt just to conclusions... you are making up a rumor yourself just like when people "journalists" started saying 8.1 wouldnt be able to be installed in current phones and making a silly rumor. like that... the merge wont happen anytime soon anyway, it will be little by little, now they merged developers accounts, maybe next step its to merge stores, while probably merging more and more APIs.
so no, your made up rumor isnt true and Wp8 wont be obsolete if it got merged RT with WP.
