Xbox One S vs Xbox One

So far I've been only gaming on my PC but at this point my PC is not really good enough for every game I want to play and as I am low on budget I cannot buy a PC with specs I'd like it to have so I am considering buying either Xbox One or Xbox One S but at this point I am not sure which one should I buy - I've read the article written by Daniel Rubino where he mentions what Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners should consider but I didn't notice that he said anything about everybody else (yes, he did mention PC gamers but in connection to Project Scorpio which I am not having in mind). As I don't have a 4k TV I am not sure if I would gain anything if I'd wait for Xbox One S, but to be completely sure, I'd like to ask you guys for a piece of advice here, for which I'll be very thankful.

The s model will support HDR games and you get the UHD Blu ray player. If you have a 4k set or plan to get one then I would wait for the s.

Depending on your current PC, it might make more sense to just buy a new video card and throw it into your current PC. It would perform better than the XB1 GPU and cost less than a full console.

If I would buy a new video card I would also have to change at least a power supply unit and I am not quite sure if intel core i3 processor from 2013 would work well with video card I would prefer to buy :-/

If you have NO plans on getting a 4K tv anytime soon, then get a cheap Xbox one, don't bother with the "S" model right now. The major benefit is 4K support (with 4K UHD Blu-ray) AND new controllers with extended range (15-20' away is about the MAX on xbox one). You could always go for Project Scorpio a year and 1/2 down the line.

If your thinking about spending $400 on the Xbox one "S" then just get a used Xbox one for $100-200 (check local pawn shops, you can always talk them down a little). Take the other $200+ and put it towards upgrading your video card.

Keep in mind, the $299 Xbox one S is not due out till December, that is a pretty long time away. So, if you wanted to get something soon, your only option will be the $399 2tb model.

A 2tb drive 1.5 is about $100-150, so based on that, getting the $400 model is not bad over all.

Yea, I know but, NAH.... The Xbox one S is small, I hate External boxes.... that I am FORCED to use on my Day one Xbox one I have now...

I was going to crack my Day one Xbox one open (far out of warranty) and swap the 500gb to a 2tb drive (can be done with some hacks). Also there is a 3TB 2.5" drive out there, so that is a maybe...

Now deciding if I am going to go for a "S" right away, or just upgrade mine and wait for 4K UHD-HD disc drives for the PC...

You might see some graphical and framerate improvements with the Xbox One S since it will have a better processor and GPU, but you wouldn't see any benefit from the 4k or HDR capabilities without a 4k TV that supports HDR10. The Xbox One S will also have a 4k UHD Blu-ray drive. Pretty good deal for only $399 considering the best ones right now are $350. If you just want cheap, get the original Xbox One. You can find them used and I'm sure the price will come down even more when the Xbox One S launches. There are already a lot of great deals out there. If you plan on getting a new 4k TV (make sure it supports HDR10, which is what the Xbox will have) anytime soon, get the S. Depending on which version you want to get will determine how much you'll pay and when you can get it. They recently confirmed it would be launching on August 2, however, only the 2TB model will be available for $399. The 500GB model for $299 and the 1TB model for $349 will not launch until later this year, but no dates have been confirmed. I've added a 1TB SSD drive to the 500GB Xbox One that I have and I would recommend getting at least a 1TB, if not the 2TB model, if you hate external drives that much. Personally, I'm waiting for Project Scorpio to come out next year to upgrade, but I'm in a different situation. I already have and Xbox One. I'm mainly interested in the VR capabilities. For as little as I play on my PC, I'm not willing to invest in the upgrade required for that.
