THE INTRO

In anticipation of Microsoft?s unveiling of the next version of the Windows operating system later today, I figure this was probably my last chance to show of my own interpretation. I?ve been contemplating for a couple weeks whether or not to show this publicly but ultimately decided that, good or bad, I?d much rather have your feedback so I know how and where I need to improve. If you have any questions/inquiries or need and explanation of anything I?ve included in my concepts, please do so in the comments.

THE CONCEPT

Windows is the operating system of choice for millions of people worldwide. It is at the heart of the computers that allow people all across the globe to connect with one another and gives them access to the near infinite amount of information available on the web. For some, like the innumerable businesses the make the products that play a big part in our lives or even in the hospitals that save them, there is no other choice. But despite all that it is and all that it does, one thing that windows is not is beautiful. And that?s why I?m here.

When I first approached this project, I had set out to create a user interface that would bring desktop experience in line with the modern/metro UI found on windows phones, tablets, and the Xbox One. Instead of creating what would have amounted to little more than a flat theme, I tried to look at how metro has evolved over the years and apply what I saw as being the next logical progression to the desktop experience in a way that made it feel refreshing but instantly familiar. But enough chat, I?d like to introduce what I?ve spent a good part of the last three months working on, and what you all came here to see: Windows.

re:

Looks very nice

I am trying to make something as well and i choose to have tiles on the desktop instead of having tiles in the classic start menu.
What do you think

re:

I'd rather totally redesign the Start Menu Instead of have the tiles inside a Windows 7 -esque start menu to have it more familiar and in-line with Modern UI, but other than that, this appears to be an amazing set of concepts!

I really like the file explorer design. Very Xbox Music/Xbox Video-esque, which is a good thing. Keeps with the metro look and feel, while still being functional and not wasteful with space.
