I got a replacement 8X in today to replace the one I got Friday that wouldn't make it past the Verizon boot-up screen. I set it up, downloaded all my apps, got everything set up like I want it. The one thing I forgot to check it if it can make calls. Well, when I make a call I hear the other person but they don't hear me. Did a reset and had the same result. So I've got a replacement replacement replacement on the way. I must have the worst luck with phones than 95% of the people out there. I really hope the next one works like it should. I did get to check out the Beat Audio. I was quite impressed. It sounded better than the Nokia eq settings on my 822.

You should have tested it for a couple of weeks before loading it up with your applications. Keep in mind that sooner or later Verizon will cut you off and cancel your account, but that may be a good thing.

The replacement should be here in the next hour or two. Hoping for a fully functioning phone this time.

At this point, I doubt it.

Reading through the 8X threads don't give me much confidence. I will have to say that this debacle has proven to me once again that Verizon has excellent customer service. Every rep I've talked to has been very helpful and supportive. Since I've been with Verizon I've only had a couple of reps on the phone that weren't extremely helpful. It's unfortunate that I've had to talk to them so much, but I'm glad they are helpful.

The good news is we now have a running list of what to check when we get a new phone...lol

It really must be the Verizon model because my T-mobile model has no issues.

I don't know what carrier they are on, but I doubt all the threads on the first page of the 8X forum are from Verizon customers. I know I'm the only person on the moderator team with problems with WP8, but plenty of posters in every subforum have problems with their phones.

Out of curiousity I skimmed throught the first page of all the WP8 device forums. The 8X has problems on all carriers in the states and the international model. It appears the 920 has the least amount of problems, but it's also the most popular since the front page goes back only to 1:00 pm today. The 820, 810, 822, 8S, 620 and Ativ S all have issues. The Ativ Oddysey and the Huwai (can't spell it without looking) don't have any threads with problems, but each of those forums has five or less threads.

I see Ryan Seacreast, iTunes and an iPhone 5 in your future.

At this point I just want something dependable. I really want to stay with WP, but a working phone is most important. I don't have a land line, so I really depend on my cell phone to work right. I'm hoping for more positive results from the third 8X.

The 8X appears to get better reception than my 822. I'm getting LTE consistently here at work and I rarely if ever got it on my Lumia. I love HD YouTube!

i saw you posted in this thread again and the first I thought was you were going to say the 3rd 8x started rebooting like crazy.

No, so far so good. So far I've found a few things I don't like as much about this phone, but overall I think it is a higher end phone than the 822.
