Why is my text so blurry?

Text is blurry

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Kira laptop, and have recently upgraded from windows 8 to windows 10. After I up graded, everything was working smoothly, but then one or two days later when I turned on my laptop, the text on pretty much everything apart from Chrome has been, in varying degrees, blurry, with my desktop folders being the worst (as in almost impossible to read).
It is very frustrating and I don't know how to fix it.
PS: I'm not very clued up on tech talk, so please explain without too much computer jargon.

Hmm, type "Adjust ClearType Text" in your start menu, and click on the first non-web-based selection that comes up. This should bring up a window that would allow you to calibrate the clarity or readability of the text in your PC.
