I thought it would be nice to make a thread about the rumored Blu phone shown yesterday. The rumored specs are:

    5-inch display
    480 x 854
    1.3 GHz dual-core processor
    512MB of RAM
    dual-SIM support

I checked online and I guess they've only sold on average 2 million a year. Not bad, but that's lower than Blackberry.

I'm kind of excited because this is a great practice run of an Android OEM selling a Windows phone and it would be interesting to see how much support Microsoft can get Blu to give since these devices will technically cost Blu less since they're running Windows Phone.

What do you guys think of it?

Go over NewEgg and look at customer reviews of Blu phones in the cell phone - unlocked section. They normally don't get very good reviews, but maybe they have changed their ways.

More OEMs is always good. In particular, BLU could be the competition for Nokia's entry level segment. What I like about BLU's handsets is that they are cheap (cost wise) For example, their BLU Life One is selling in Amazon for $300 aprox., and is a really good handset.

This one doesn't look too bad https://forums.windowscentral.com/e?...token=XrREhpWq

At this point, I'm more concerned with just getting devices out there instead of quality. I personally wouldn't buy this phone, but if enough people buy it despite the low quality, I'll be satisfied with it.

BLU is kind of popular here in Guatemala with the lower and most cheap phones... they're like the cheapest of the cheapest and they don't really have good reputation to be quite honest.... however if that means more sales in the lower entry and budget phone segment, like people say then it's all good right .. more WP Presence :) I would buy it and give it to my mom :)

Newegg has very few reviews for Blu devices. Also Newegg customers are more tech savvy than the average, and therefore hoping for more. Amazon seems to be a more general crowd and there customer satisfaction with most devices seems to be a bit higher.

I do hope their specs are a little beefier then speculated. A 5 inch media consumption/gaming device at $200 would fill a niche Nokia has left wide open.

    Give it 1gb ram, 720 screen, 16gb + 32 microsd

Hmm.... I take back what I said earlier. I read that they've sold 10 million units since their inception and I divided it out, but they've experience some pretty decent growth in the past few years to where they sold 4.1 million phones in 2012. Hell, that's pretty close to BB10 numbers if they've kept that growth.

These guys seem to be the perfect size for Microsoft to sway. Small enough to be influenced by Microsoft's "marketing" dollars (as in what they did with Nokia), but big enough to get some sizable market share of the WP market (something that desperately needs to happen).

I know they said they sold 10 milion devices, does it count all their phones or only Android smartphones? Because here in Guatemala the BLUE feature Phones are the cheapest of the cheapest, meaning... aproximately $12.50 up to $25 for a feature phone and they sell like crazy here as back up phones... I don't know about their smartphone portfolio as they're mostly sold as unlocked phones, I don't see them advertised on any carrier, I don't think any carrier here has them on stock so I don't know what to think but anyways, I hope for the best, as people say they can fill in a niche for people who have a feature phone looking to get a smartphone :)
