- If you provide a link instead of some vague idea and preferably from a real source that would be much appreciated. Every other month we keep hearing about the 'latest rumoured 1030 specs'.

- I'm sure its just a coincidence that 50MP is exactly what that render based on the pictures of the McLaren prototype had... (hint, just a number the artist pulled out of his *** because it's bigger than 41)

- These sites are all reporting random rumors --- and nothing has been reported on GSMArena. Also none of the rumored specs even match up aside from "50MP rear camera". One says 2GB RAM & 1080p, the next says 16GB RAM & 768p. Its all fake.

- And why is this thread even in the Windows 10 forums in the first place? Because the device is most likely gonna run Windows 10 when it's coming out - if it's coming out that is. If that's sufficient for a topic to be created in the Windows 10 forums, I'm gonna post Xbox One game topics here too. They're Windows 10 related as well, right?
Back to topic, whatever GSMArena pretends to know, it's mere speculation.Last edited by dKp1977; 01-27-2015 at 10:14 AM.

- I love everything about these specs except for the increase in megapixels. Sure more megapixels sound better but truth be told 41 megapixels is just perfect. There's not much wrong with the 1020. It's just outdated and mostly under the hood. What Microsoft needs to do is keep the same 41mp sensor, increase the screen to 1080p 5", use a Snapdragon 802 or higher, with the SD slot, 32gb of internal storage, 2-3gb of ram in a slimmer and sexier frame(like the leaked prototype pictures of the cancelled McLaren). They already have the wheel they just need to make it shinier, not reinvent it. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if this thing turns out to be yet another freaking exclusive, that is what will kill it. I got so annoyed with them advertising all the features available in the 920, 1020, 1520, and Icon when neither of those phones were available on my carrier. If HTC can make a HTC M8 for Windows and get it to the three supporting carriers of Windows Phone, I don't see a logical reason why Microsoft can't. The next flagship needs a massive launch not a limited one. 50mp is unnecessary.

- I take any bet they will. ;) It's as much a niche device as the 1520 is, but it has its fan base. And it's huge.

- Define huge. We're talking WP here.
Logic would dictate that a good flagship and a good large phone are the way to go if sales of the iPhone 6/6+ are anything to go by. They can always release the niche device later. Most 'normal' users just want a decent camera, not a monster.- Share

A niche device within a niche OS isn't going to sell phones.01-28-2015 07:59 AMLike 0 - I just check the AdDuplex statistics regularly. And from the more expensive devices the "market share" of the 1020 has always been similar to that of other devices in the same price range.01-28-2015 08:07 AMLike 0

Not to burst your bubble and everyone else but the 1020 doesn't even make it into the top 10 phones and guess which one, after two years is still there? The L920. What is the L920? A good all round flagship. L930 and L1520 are not even in the top 10.
That's why they should release a good flagship. Because that's what the majority of people want.- Share

- Eh, Big screen are the "it" tech spec at the moment. I do not believe there are that many people in this community or in the Android/Apple community that will buy a (4.5inch, 41mp, 2gb of ram 1080p screen) 1030, over lets say a (5inch, 20mp, 3gb of ram, 1440p/2k display) 940 or a (4gb of ram, 2k/4k display, 20mp)1530. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.01-28-2015 08:33 AMLike 0

- And that's what they certainly are going to do, no doubt. Well, you should've also taken a look at the statistics of 2014. The 1020 was in there every single month, including December. And even then it was only like 1.2% or so behind the 920. Which is still great for a niche device. But WP, and especially Nokia have always been about variety. Even Microsoft serves this strategy with their niche devices (selfie device for example). I have little to no doubt that we'll see a successor for the 1020.
Considering when the 1520 was released, it was still a niche device. The fact that phablets are becoming more common now is imho mostly because of Apple having released the iPhone 6+.
I hope, and I mean hope, that MS doesn't follow the same strategy as Nokia. It's not an efficient or effective one. I know it's the model that Nokia always used but in this day and age and with all the issues around carrier exclusives it's done nothing but confuse the hell out of people.
I'd rather see a fleet of 4-5 phones and one niche device. That would be good enough. World wide coverage. End of story.
However, going by MS's release strategy so far, everything will be US first and the rest of the world will have to wait a year.... in which case they'll lose market share... (sorry a that's a bit of dig) :P- Share

- I think the last couple of devices released from MS have been Nokia devices in progress and were just released to get some return on engineering costs.
