What if the leaked renders are actually in the midrange tiers?

We already know that there's a higher tier of handsets planned for early next year. City/Talkman phones are flagships to our current standards, but there's better to come....

Not really mid range!! But it has been said many times that the vision of Microsoft mobile will be materialized somewhere in the beginning of 2016

But we don't know that, do we? There have been rumors about a business-oriented smartphone (a-la intel atom), but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a higher tier, just differently purposed.

For example, it's entirely possible that Microsoft's aim for a business-class phone would be maximum security and efficiency. For all we know, that means that they give it an 8MP camera and a 720p screen just to keep costs down for the purposes of enterprise adoption.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves lest we set ourselves up for more disappointment.

I'm not counting on these just being mid-range. Nadela said the Microsoft phone business will be narrows to 3 segments: Budget, high-end, and Enterprise. "mid-range" doesn't fit into any of those categories. I can understand how some look at cityman/talkman's appearance and say they look like mid-range phones, but the leaked specs scream flagship.

As for the surface phone, contrary to Pete's post, we "know" virtually nothing. Listening to their podcast, Tom Warren and Paul Thurott seem confident the surface phone exists and is something Microsoft is working on, but that's about it. They are of the belief that if a surface phone is released, it would be May 2016 at the earliest, so NOT "early next year."
