This is all up to one's preference, but personally I'm a sucker for flat icons. The revamped File Explorer icon gave me hope that they were going to change up all their system icons, but it seems from the previews that it's still the same old Windows Vista style that I'm so tired of. Kinda strange that they flattened the File Explorer icon without doing the same to the File Explorer folder thumbnails, too.

Do you guys think they're still working on the icon consistencies, or is this pretty much what we're getting?

Its very early in the process and amazingly polished...pretty sure there will be consistency of icon improvements they mentioned that with the charms already.

Windows 8.0 had 4 totally different versions. Developer Preview, Consumer Preview, Release Preview and RTM. Not even talking about the many improvements brought by W8.1 and Update 1.

What I'm saying there is hope still.

In the past for some reason the icons have been one of the last things that have been done before release.
