There are lots of things to fix, that was half way done in Windows 8 that Microsoft needs to fix in Windows 10, if they want it to be a success. I will not list them all, but I will mention one example which happened to me today. I tried to save an attachment from the modern mail app which opened the modern picture folder with the file picker. I simply tried to create a folder to save my files and guess what, I can't create a folder, rename a folder/file, delete a folder/file, I can't do anything I am accustomed to doing in file explore in this modern environment.

The thing that worries me about Windows 10 is that these little details that make up a great portion of my user experience will go unnoticed and untouched, the same can be said with Windows Phone (having to use an app because a smart dialer is not built into the OS is not paying attention to the details, my Windows Mobile HTC Touch Pro 2 had this). Having a modern app with the ability now to be opened on the desktop won't make much of a difference to me, if when I go to use the app and the same problem with file picker in a modern app still exist. These are simple every day task that I perform on my Windows 7 desktop at work or in the desktop environment on my windows 8.1 computer at home, and if it doesn't work makes me frustrated. That's why I have not used with any frequency, any of the modern apps like picture, music, video, mail, people and any apps like them, they make the simple task frustrating to perform.

If Microsoft wants Windows 10 to be a success, there should be no limitations when using modern apps. Everything that I can do in Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 desktop environment needs to be there in the new modern/app environment. If I have to bring up the old desktop interface to do a task with the new interface, then that will lead to frustration and I won't continue to be frustrated, I'll just stick with the old. My hope is that Microsoft pays attention to the details, no matter how tiny or insignificant they may seem.

I have never had a problem doing anything with 8.1 at home that I do currently with Win 7 at work. Remote desktop, Exchange, Footprints, Firepass, Mobile Iron Office, pictures the whole 9 yards but you get frustrated. I'll say this, if 8.1 was a problem for you, Win X is likely to long for the days of pre-installed Windows XP. Not even my very non technical wife ever have trouble with 8.1. She doesn't use the Modern UI side much but she will use Amazon and Flipboard.
I hope MS doesn't go too far to reducing innovation for people who simply can't get it and can't learn new. That could really hurt the young talented types looking for Windows to challenge them.

Oh look, another "Windows 10 blah blah" thread.

Don't moan here, use the Win 10 Preview feedback app for that.

And please use paragraphs, they make reading so much more easier for the rest of us.

I think Windows 8.1 is a fine OS, and I like the modern environment, I'm just hoping that when Windows 10 comes out they won't neglect the small details and leave certain things unfinished.

Sorry about the long paragraph, didn't realize it would turn out that way, this is my first post here on Windows Central forums. I will remember next time to break the post up into paragraphs. Also it was not the object of my post to complain about Windows 10 or Windows 8.1, I actually like 8.1. I just want Windows 10 to be a great OS, and to me what would make it great is if Microsoft pays attention to the details and don't leave anything half done. I would rather Microsoft not put a feature in the OS, than put one in there and it's half done.
