For me Build 9926 runs much better than 9879 on my Surface Pro (1st Gen).

Nope. This is new code, so you should fully anticipate new "opportunities for excellence" with each new build. I view each one with skepticism, plan for the worst, and am pleased if/when the worst doesn't happen. Having used MS products since MS-DOS 1.0 and been a beta tester for many things from a variety of hw and sw companies, I long ago learned to take it all in stride.
