Will it run on this machine?

I've got a 4yr old Dell laptop knocking around, 2.2GHz celeron & 3GB 800mhz Ram. Its struggling to run Windows 7 these days, but would it be quick enough for windows 10 preview?

Also, would putting an SSD in it speed things up, or is the processor likely to be the bottleneck?

i would assume it would run it as well as windows 7. i dont think its equally as resource intensive

i think both the ram and processors are issues but it should be able to run.

And putting an SSD in will really speed things up. Startup and loading will significant improve. I put a ssd in a laptop from I think more than 8 years old so I really would recommend an SSD.

I am using my 6 yr. old Dell Inspiron 1420 in my reply to you.
It has only 2 GB Ram, 100 GB hard drive capacity. And I use it to dual boot Win 8.1 Pro and Win 10 TP.
I have no issues . That's since build 9841.
So, if you install Win 10 TP as the sole OS in that computer of yours, I don't see any problem at all.
Of course, it depends on HOW you plan to use the computer.

I think you should be ok.
Make sure you have the installation media for the current OS you are running. You need it if you want to remove Win 10 TP and go back to the previous OS.
Also backup all the files you want to keep.

Unless the processor is so old that it doesn't support PAE, NX, SSE2 (same requirement for Windows 8), you should be good. (source: System requirements - Microsoft Windows)
