Possible to open same app twice on W10?

Hi,
I just tried to open Xodo Docs twice, because I wanted to open two pdfs side by side and found no option in the app to achieve this. The problem is, I can't open another instance of the app. It just puts the already opened app on foreground. Is this a restriction of apps or is there a way to achieve another instance of an app? If not, I can't see a future where apps completely replace programs, which is the intention of MS... at least I think it is.

I don't think you can run more than one instance at a time. Although IE has a splitscreen mode, I'm not sure I've seen it anywhere else.
