Expected time to get fast ring insider from threshold

I want to get the fast ring update on my surface 3. I have 10586.494 installed. So from past experiences and from the forums, I know it takes time between when you select fast ring and when you actually get the update. How long is the wait?

If anyone is updating through the path I've described (10586 -> 14393), can you share your experience with the delay?

Only time I did it it for testing purpose on my old spare Toshiba, I waited 24 hrs

I checked back 24 hours after activating fast ring, the update was available - that's the good part. Now finding internet - the hard part :grincry:

Just turned on Insider Preview to jump on the AU but I see no download available! Is there a shortcut?

Why do they make me wait so long?

Is this like divorce filing in some countries where you turn in the papers but have to wait certain number of days to think it over and come back?

Thanks. I actually got it last night around midnight after ~5 hr wait. Install was fast and everything especially Edge "seems faster" (tm).
