    Windows 10 Preview Build 15002,

We are starting to update the Windows Insider Program website with new content, first starting with the landing page. We would love to hear your feedback on other changes that you would like up to plan for future updates at Feedback Hub - Windows Insider Program.

    Huge list, follow above link...

Other changes, improvements, and fixes for PC

    1. The 3D Builder app has been moved to the “Windows Accessories” folder on Start.
    2. We fixed an issue where the display brightness keys on some devices weren’t working as expected.
    3. We fixed an issue where the display may stay black after resuming from sleep if a USB display is connected.
    4. We fixed an issue where opening an app that uses the camera, such as the Camera app, would sometimes result in a bugcheck.
    5. We fixed a crash in the RPCSS service which in turn was resulting in some Insiders experiencing CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED bugchecks on recent builds.
    6. We fixed an issue for touch keyboards sometimes requiring multiple clicks to invoke on non-touch PCs.
    7. We fixed an issue where Disk Cleanup would sometimes unexpectedly show 3.99TB worth of Windows Update Cleanup files.
    8. We’ve updated our logic so if the Microsoft Edge window is narrow and Cortana has a tip, Cortana will only appear as an icon in the address bar. If you expand the window, you’ll see the full suggestion as before.
    9. We’ve updated tooltips for the Microsoft Edge favorites bar to wrap around for longer website names rather than truncate.
    10. We fixed an issue where Touchpad settings page via Settings > Devices > Touchpad wasn’t displaying an icon next to its name in the navigation pane.
    11. We fixed an issue that may have resulted in a recent drop in Action Center reliability for Insiders.
    12. We’ve updated the Speaker Properties dialog to now allow you to configure Spatial Audio for different endpoints. If the current playback device has Spatial Audio enabled, the volume icon in the notification area will now indicate this.
    13. We’ve made some tweaks to the backend for how users connect to devices, such as Miracast displays and other PCs. Use the Connect UI (WIN+K) as you normally would, and file feedback if you encounter any issues.
    14. We’ve removed the rerouting of mspaint.exe to Paint 3D – appreciate everyone who’s shared feedback on the Paint 3D experience, please keep it coming.
    15. We fixed an issue Insiders may have experienced on recent builds where navigating to OneDrive folders could unexpectedly result in popup saying there had been a “Catastrophic Error”.
    16. We fixed an issue that could result in a Visual Studio crash when trying to open, add, or save a file.
    17. We fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders using PCs with certain older chipsets from seeing colored boxes in the place of text and various other UI in UWPs apps.
    18. When you use Miracast to a device that supports input (for example, an Actiontec Screenbeam or Miracast-enabled Windows 10 PC), you will now see a toast notification to help you enable input (touch, keyboard, etc) on that device.
    19. We fixed an issue where the Home and End keys were unexpectedly not working in certain Settings pages, for example “Apps & features”.
    20. Fixed an issue that could cause some progress indicators in UWP apps to appear to wobble or glitch.

    Known issues for PC

    1. Opening Battery settings page via Settings > System > Battery will crash the Settings app.
    2. The option to enable the Virtual Touchpad is missing from the taskbar context menu.
    3. Cortana’s cross-device scenarios won’t work on this build (including notification mirroring, missed call, share photos, share directions, low battery, and find my phone).
    4. Some websites in Microsoft Edge may unexpectedly show “We can’t reach this page”. If you encounter this, please try accessing the site from an InPrivate tab.
    5. Dragging apps from the all apps list to pin on Start’s tile grid won’t work. For now, please right-click on the desired app in order to pin it.
    6. Using CTRL + C to copy in Command Prompt won’t work.
    7. When projecting to a secondary monitor, if you set the connection to “Extended”, Explorer.exe may start crashing in a loop. If this happens, turn off your PC, disconnect the secondary monitor, then restart your PC.
    8. The touch keyboard button may be unexpectedly missing from the taskbar. If this happens, open the taskbar context menu, and select “Show touch keyboard button”.
    9. You may see an error from Windows Hello saying “Couldn’t turn on the camera” on the lock screen.
    10. Brightness changes made via Settings > System > Display will unexpectedly revert after closing the Settings app. For now, please use either Action Center, power flyout or brightness keys to change the brightness
    11. The list of apps in the Surface Dial “Add an app” page via Settings > Devices > Wheel may unexpectedly be empty. If that happens, tap the “Browse for an app” button at the bottom of the screen to pick the desired app instead.
    12. Miracast sessions will fail to connect.
    13. The Netflix app may display a black screen rather than the expected video content. As a workaround, you can use Microsoft Edge to watch video content from Netflix.
    14. On certain hardware types (e.g.: Acer Aspire), the Netflix app crashes when starting a movie.
    15. 3rd party UWP apps would crash on devices if the DPI settings on the machine are >=150% (Generally people do this on high resolution devices – Surface book etc.)
    16. If you upgrade from Windows 8.1 directly to Build 15002, all your store apps are lost during upgrade process but you can go and re-download all the lost apps from the Store.
    17. When using Microsoft Edge with Narrator, you may hear “no item in view” or silence while tabbing or using other navigation commands. You can use Alt + Tab when this happens to move focus away from and back to the Edge browser. Narrator will then read as expected.
    18. Saying “Hey Cortana, play <item> on <AppName>” doesn’t work immediately after installing the app. Wait 5 minutes for indexing to begin and try again.

Whew! Please enjoy this build—we certainly have been and we VERY MUCH look forward to hearing your feedback. We have lined up the team and the Customer Champs to be on high alert in Feedback Hub.

This build and version is the latest Redstone 2 build in testing for Desktop Insiders on the Fast Ring.

Issues? Bugs? Solutions? For all things Windows 10 build 15002, discuss it here.

    [TIP]Basic tip

If you're having any issues with your device, try a reset.

Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Reset this PC > This provides you with two options: 1. keep my files and 2. remove everything[/TIP]

    [TIP]Keep my files

Does just as its name describes. If you choose the setting you can reinstall Windows 10 without having to back up any of the pictures, videos, music and documents that you have stored on it. You absolutely should back up these things just in case, but you shouldn’t need to use that back up. Keep My Files requires a certain amount of free space on your device. As such, it may be unavailable to you if your device is stuffed with a lot of files. If you get an error message asking for more storage when you choose this option you’ll need to back up your files and choose the remove everything option. You could also delete any files that you aren’t using on your device and try the option again. This option will take longer than the other options.[/TIP]

    [TIP]Remove Everything

Deletes every file, every setting from your device and gives you a blank copy of Windows 10 to work with. You’ll need to add any files you have backed up to your device again [/TIP]

    Hi -
Did my update on the PC, now Quicken 2017 is broken. I have tried to install the Net framework again, but it says that it is already installed.

    Here is the message:
Quicken cannot run because Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 is not installed on your computer. The easiest way to fix.....

Hi, the build 15002 is for PC's.
However after the 'Known issues for PC', it mentions 'This build and version is the latest Redstone 2 build in testing for Mobile Insiders on the Fast Ring.'
All the tips and info parts then refer to phones.

    Is this just an oversight?
Or is the mobile build available on the fast ring?

It just maybe a bit confusing for Windows Mobile users.

Yes too many copy and paste lol. Words taken out, best to go straight to the Microsoft's announcement link.

so far so (mostly) good but my desktop doesn't show. I'm on a SP3 and it shows only the tablet mode. It will ask my if I want to exit Tablet mode but only shows my desktop pic and then reverts to the tablet view...which then asks if I want to exit tablet mode. Didn't realize I left it on Fast builds from Anniversary edition. LOL I guess I'm riding this wave.

Random reboots on this latest fast release. I'm running home version of Windows 10 on a Dell Laptop. If I buy the upgrade to Win 10 Pro, would this get me out of the Insider Program. I will never participate in a program like this again.

Why don't you just in-enroll from the insider program?*

15002 is BUGGGYYY for me too.*Unusable, with Edge crashing every 5 minutes, quick actions gone, multi-screen problems etc etc.*I rolled back to 14986.

I believe that if you leave the insider program (via Settings), you won't get any more insider updates but you it still won't get you back to the production ring without reinstalling the OS from scratch. At least that's how it used to be, so if things changed, I could be wrong on that. Upgrading to pro wouldn't do anything, it'd probably just unlock the Pro features on your current, insider build of Windows.

Is there a way to kick off an update to 15007 without going into the Settings-->Update & Security-->Install Now? My Settings menu seems to be unresponsive and I can't click and menu items once into a category. It knows that 15007 is ready to install, but I can't click the "Install Now" button.

15002 wasn't workable for me, Explorer.exe was fubared, first attempt couldn't do anything with the Taskbar (it only displayed the start, cortana and task view buttons, mousing over would have the spinning 'thinking' cursor), couldn't get the start menu, no keyboard shortcuts worked and couldn't even open photos that was on my desktop. Reverted to the last build and tried again and it worked a bit better but the taskbar was still non-responsive but I could use task manager to run applications.

Reverted again today and updated to 15007 and so far so good.
