    Every time I try to update my desktop from 15007 to 15014 it appears to go fine. No indications of a failed installation but when I log in I'm still on 15007 and 15040 is in the Windows Update download queue again. I've reviewed the update history and there's no entry for a failed update.

    I've done this loop several times now. What really sucks is that 15007 the start menu is completely not functional so I can't just wait for the next one and hope it recovers. Any suggestions?

    is it just updates for the OS or for other services too? Like office products or defender?

    I've noticed Defender signatures too but no other products as of yet.

    Yes I keep getting "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting. Error code 0x803C0107. Tried restarting the Software Protection services but no joy. If I don't come up with something, I'm about to drop an old image back onto the box and try to jump straight to 15014.
