Split Screen Mode in Windows Phone (woooo its le Snap)

    How it works
    1) Slide in from the left to the center of display. This opens the split screen app picker and shows instruction at the top of the screen.
    2) Drag an app's icon to either the upper or lower portions of the screen. This results in the instructions fading away and the screen is boxed off with a splash screen icon and colour half is bbm and other half is FB in their unique colours. NB divider bar is present at this point.
    3) release the app and the screen splits readjusting the apps to fit and within two seconds the Split screen app picker slides out of view.
    4) you can also do the same by going to running apps view and dragging an up to the upper half or lower half of the screen.

    #Notes
Used my BBM 2.0 UI design for BBM in case you were wondering. will post that soon
Split screen app picker pushes apps to the right a bit when it slides into view and takes up little space.

Nice render, but I think a solution needs to be found for the blown up rendering of facebook and the (I presume) messaging app. I can imagine though that you could run into an error prone and intensive finger scrolling and searching. That could lead to a poor end user experience, especiall on a smaller screen like a smartphone. Size of screen will determine how good this experience is and if people could want and use this in reality. On a lumia 1520 it would most likely be a better user experience than say a lumia 520 or 535. I believe this function is best reserved with devices with a larger screen real estate, example screen sizes > 8 inches.

I think it'd be rad if instead of just having the beep when you activate Cortana through voice with "Hey Cortana" she instead responded "Yes, <name>?".
Some people probably wouldn't like this, so you could make it an option in settings. But I think this would add a LOT of personality to the digital assistant.

I want haptic feedback for windows phone, even after more than year owning lumia 1020, I cannot get used to this keyboard, still making a lot of mistakes

also, I want better multitasking, resuming screen is boring, then, sometimes when you upload something on facebook, you have to stay in app, otherwise, upload will be canceled

it will be good if we see some changes on UI, something like this, better utilization on dispaly

    Search
Search needs to be improved, if you don't have a good cellular data connection then it's difficult to use the current search model even just to find a contact or an app. It needs to intelligently and quickly find local stuff first, like contacts, messages, apps, etc and then pull web results and onedrive results in the background if connection is available.

The way it works now is you have to swipe over to 'Phone' to get local contacts and if it can't get a data connection it doesn't quickly do this. I realise you could just go into the People app but sometimes it's easier to just to hit search button and type what I want.

    Quick Actions/Toggles
Would like to see shortcut to flashlight and some important apps like camera, calculator, alarms, maps, etc. The only concern I have is how they fit this in action centre without it looking messy!

I mostly wish they integrated the Lock Screen app directly in the OS.
If it had more animations and third party developers could actually get an API so they could make their own.
    That would be cool.

My wishlist would be the multi-window capability especially on my L1520 phablet. This would definitely compete Samsung's Galaxy Note 4. Annotation on Spartan is already a great addition to the OS feature.

Bring Profile modes to Windows10 like Symbian Nokia devices

Profiles will smartly handles system notifications and Application notifications.

In Home mode Volume,Notifications should normally high and it should a set off apps or certain start screen...like each mode should have certain start screens... users can arrange any changes to the start screen live tiles for each mode...

in Outdoor mode normally Vibrate and ring should be preferable and this mode can be automatically when the noise level is very high...

More ideas can be implemented based on this concept... this will really improves our user experience and make our phone more personal....

I wonder if they are planning to do that for Windows 10 Desktop. It'd make the lock screen look really nice for a PC, thats for sure!

Is virtual desktop or virtual start screen coming to Windows Phone 10 for mobile phones? I think it would be awesome to have many variations of start screen so you don't have to scroll down. You can have a start screen for work and for play and others.

The desktop isn't coming to any device under 8inches unless it already had (e.g. Windows 8.1 upgrade to windows 10)

You know, that could be kind of cool if combined with USB OTG support. Plug in a mouse/keyboard, cast it to a TV/monitor, slap in continuum and you'd basically have your phone as a PC.

Could even simplify things and make a dock like the Surface Pro has.

    1. Add the LANDSCAPE & PORTRAIT screen support, right from the start screen to end of the functionality.
    2. Add Cortana integration with XBOX 🎮
    Commands like
    XBOX show me my achievements
XBOX show me new friend request
XBOX show me achievements of (xxxxxxx)
    XBOX show me messages
(in-reply add speech input method, to get things done in a smart way)

    3. Add SPEECH INPUT METHOD, for Outlook and Word, coz there is no need to Type The Text in editing changes etc.

Nice well said but you are forgetting a few items as well

this is a rehash of my old post but it may over lap some of what you said
Windows phone 8.1 list of items to work on
    1. Lock screen needs to be more expressive / Functional (more notification icons, , music controls on the lock screen with artist album and song labels ( we dont need the album art like kitkat offers as the background).
    2. Lock screen lock options needed (ie picture password, voice unlock, face unlock, pattern unlock and pin).
    3. Actionable notification icons on lock screen option (double tap an icon will open the respective app.
    4. Battery percentage on lock screen
    5. Actionable Toast notifications mock up see attached pic.
    6. Action Center Toggles should be on and off switches not take you to the settings menu for wifi.
    7. Action Center Toggles should be at least 6 or more scrollable like Samsung does theirs.
    8. A toggle for Ring mode (Ring , Ring and Vibrate, Silent, vibrate).
    9. Action center notifications should be able to swipe left or right to dismiss them.
    10. Action Center notifications should auto collapse as more notifications come in (expandable and contractible ala android).
    11. Settings Menu can do with a tiled icon view as well as the current list view would be nice.
    12. When one taps phone we should have the option to go right into the dialer or the recent call screen. (I would prefer a sliding interface so from the dialer slide left for recent calls)
    13. An all programs grid view would be nice.
    14. When you launch Cortina she should expect me to speak or preferably a hello cortana would launch cortana from anywhere and she would be already listening to what I have to say.
    15. Folders should be built into the os not a nokia app.
    16. Make app resume and refresh time instantaneous or allow apps to periodically refresh in the background (ie getting a notification on fb messenger is faster than on my s4 but the apps has to resume then refresh to be up to date this should be seamless like on android. Maybe as a notification comes in the app refreshes and moves to a not suspended state for at least a minute so going into the app feels faster??? idk just saying MS).
    17. More BIG Name APPS that are coded properly with Full Feature set as ANDRIOD or IOS counterpart (I.E PAY DEVLOPERS TO BUILD AND UPDATE APPS FASTER KIND OF LIKE WHAT BLACKBERRY IS DOING.) Faster App updates (yes you Instagram lazy arse and others).
    18. Natively coded Facebook app please also chat heads or chat tile support would be nice for FB messenger.
    19. Power intensive apps native or not need to be refined
    20. More options under the camera UI settings menu I mean android and even BB have more options
    21. Notification light Support for non Nokia or devices not supporting glance screen (or an option to blink the windows key alone if notifications come in).
    22. Missing apps I need . drop box, pulse news, oovoo, swarm ( foursquares replacement), google apps (youtube, google search, google+ etc), sound hound pro, and others
    23. IR blaster support??
    24. Keyboard is good well done android phones I usually have to change for that but I have gripes. Do like LG or even Fleksy for android adjustable key size would be nice, add or remove certain keys would be nice, flick to the left would be good to delete works when swype is off, manually enter words into dictionary would be nice. Would love it if Windows would allow at least fleksy to integrate its keyboard into the phone as a replacement or if yall work with fleksy and integrate some of its features.
    25. Option to 3rd party keyboards maybe
    26. Option to separate ringtone and notification volume toggles.
    27. The X on an app in the task switcher should be a red Square with a white X in it stay true to windows please lol.
    28. Weather clock tile would be nice (I.E give the weather tile the option to show the clock on it too with options as to how you would like information displayed on the tile).
    29. Camera should show resolution options grouped under 16:9 wide or 4:3 for have resolutions to choose from and more options on the stock windows phone app

mock up of the actionable notifications feature

A Nokia C6-01 or a Lumia 900 is not smarter than a Lumia 925 or a Lumia 930, so why a smart feature like the native or network 3G video call is missing when I decided to switch from my 3 years old C6-01 to the elegant Lumia 925. Actually Skype or Oovoo or else are smart ways to video call a contact living in another country or in case of network congestion et cetera, but, it's not really smart to leave a special app running (increased power consumption indeed), in order to receive a video call from your wife at the store for your advice about her new "dress to be" or from your mother living next city. Smarter phones are designed to make us live smarter, aren't they?
But it's not what I felt when I "upgraded" to the "smarter", eye-catching Lumia 925. I was planning to grab the powerful Lumia 930 in the coming months, but as things are sounding, it seems that there is no hope for the integrated video call feature (3G-324M) in the coming Lumias and windows phone OS. I'm feeling more and more that Microsoft is working for a specific market in the same way Apple is doing instead of working for worldwide reputation and love in the way Nokia was doing, and that if Microsoft didn't acquire Nokia's phone division, we would have better and smarter Lumia phone with that Zeiss optics lens and that WP OS that I've felt in love with. An android user never complained about missing features, why is it the case for us, Windows phone users? Microsoft even "removed" or forgot the so praised "notification center" that was available in the old Symbian before advertising it as a new feature in the 8.1. Until now I cannot read the lyrics while playing a music file on my 925 as I used to with the old C6-01 (Symbian). If Microsoft continues on this path, Google and Android will always be a world leader in smartphone, and the once giant which was CONNECTING PEOPLE in all the possible ways will never be forgotten. Certainly, Microsoft,a hundred comments and feature suggestions coming from a few parts of the world cannot make you change your strategies and financial projections, but if it's not going to interfere with your financial projections, PLEASE, restore the native (3G-324M...) video call feature. I'm an old Nokia's fan (now Lumia's fan) always converting friends to Windows and WP OS, now left with no words to convince.
