Under Personalization >Background I select "Show More Tiles" and "On" and none of my apps are using that feature. Not even Cortana. Any advice/knowledge would be great. Thanks!

Ehm. Not sure what you're actually expecting to happen. The switch doesn't do anything but enable 3 columns of tiles on your screen instead of just 2. Something devices like the 1520, 930 and so on already have by default.

unreleated, thats just a visual representation of adding a 3rd row of tiles

the new tile sizes are not in this build, and im not sure what a double wide tile is, we only have 2 new tiles, a large, which is a big square, and a tall which is a wide tile on its side

A double wide tile is one that spans two columns.
On my 1520 I have the Photos and Accuweather tiles doing this.
I just brought up a 590XL and the Photos came over this way, but the Accuweather had to be reinstalled and it wouldn't initially do this.
The trick is to shrink it then expand it with an empty space in the adjacent column it filled it.

The option the OP mentions, "Show more tiles" just turns on the 4th column on my 590XL, it did not change the width of any existing tiles.
