Why can't I restore WP8 for upgrade to new build?

Help! I Can't Restore WP8 For Upgrade To New Build

I've downloaded and installed the Windows Phone Recovery Tool (2.1.1). It immediately detects my Lumia 925 and goes into "Reading phone information" but that's as far as it's got in 45 minutes. So I tried restarting the application but it's been 15 minutes now and still nothing more. Should I be patient and let it go or am I in trouble? It's my daily driver and I really don't feel like spending another $20 on a new SIM for my other phone (micro/nano), so I need to get it sorted.

As usual, it was my trusty Thinkpad 8 to the rescue. When the stupid Win 7 workstation couldn't, it could and in double-quick time, too. Now I'm just waiting for the endless phone updates to finish. (I'm on my 3rd now, hopefully it's the last.)
