If you didn't like WP7 then you probably won't like 8.1 or 10. I for one loved WP7, so much so that every phone I've had since has been a Windows phone.

If the modern interface and live tiles didn't grab you when you had a Windows phone previously, then you're likely to prefer the basic icon structure of IOS and/or Android over WP still.

Each to their own though, horses for courses and all that.

So, my colleague bought an android ... and is perplexed why apps get installed on his phone without him knowing... The usual casinos, games icon/apps crap started populating his start screen... That's Android in a nutshell...

No idea what apps he's installing but never had this issue. There were some apps when I got my phone (country specific) that I simply uninstalled and that was it.

Never had any issue with any app so far doing anything like this. Then again, I stick to proprietary apps most of the time.
Same here, but I only use Google Play and Amazon Appstore, not any dodgy sites.

128 GB SD cards. Nokia MixRadio (out of the box). HERE Maps (offline Maps, true offline navigation). Live Tiles. OneNote. Office. HD video recording for less than $100.

Those are my primary reasons, and what I believe differentiates WP from Android and iOS. iOS still does not have offline support out of the box, for anything, unless something has changed I don't know about. And it still does not take SD cards. I love the fact that I can have a phone with 8 GB of storage (well, 2 after the OS takes up 6) and add an additional 128 GB to it with a card.
MixRadio, HERE Maps, OneNote and Office are available for iOS and Android.

Win 7.5 is nowhere near as great as Win 8.1 and Win 10 later this year will be even better! AS many will tell you there's no compelling reason to use any of the current OSs over the other unless there's a very specific need for a particular app. I've tried Android twice and left after a month or two each time. My wife has had 2 IPhones ( 4 & 6 ) models and I just don't see anything there that makes me want to leave Windows Phone. I started with an HTC with Win 7 and upgraded to a Lumia 822 when Windows 8 came out. Changed to a Lumia 928 and then an Icon. When there was no new Windows phone last fall I tried a Motorola Droid Turbo with Android and liked the device quite a bit, but Android still left me unimpressed. One of my favorite things with my Windows phone is having Cortana read me my texts as they arrive and allowing me to reply by voice even if I'm in the car and connected by Bluetooth. With Win 10 coming it's only going to get better. I've got an extra Icon which I've been previewing Win 10 Mobile on. It's not quite ready for prime time daily driver use, but then it's not even close to being released yet but it's showing great promise just like Windows 10 desktop was just a few months ago!

That's odd because I didn't like Windows 8 at all but I love 8.1. So I can't see how they are comparable with 7.

I only got lumia 520 because it was cheap and it wasn't till 8.1 update that I thought it was a worthy OS.

This is a loaded argument from the start, but let's look at the basics...

1) What does Android NOT do that you want it to?
2) What is the primary "thing" you do with your phone - email/text/messaging, calling, gaming, browsing, etc...?
3) What handset are you currently using?
4) What budget do you have for the new handset?
5) Why do you want to switch?

Overall, Android does everything well. Windows does a few things better, but you'd really have to think hard bout making a switch in your ecosystem. With MS making such good Android Apps now, it's an easy switch to make, but I wouldn't want to have to make it for 'no reason' what so ever. Fortunately, I have the best of both worlds as I carry a Windows Phone and Android device daily.

As someone that uses both OS's daily, I can tell you that Windows Phone (for now) is much better at the messaging thing. Calling, both are very equal, unless you want call blocking and text blocking, in which case the Lumia's do that natively. Gaming is slightly better on Android due to the number of titles that are available - Clash of Clans, Candy Crush Soda, etc... Browsing is tougher, but I prefer the way that Windows handles it over Android. IE seems to be a bit better than Chrome, but Edge is still a bit too new to judge. If it is as good as they say it will be, it will be a good step in speeding up mobile browsing as well.

Overall, I can't give you a good reason to switch, unless you aren't happy with Android. That's between you and your current phone. As far as a flagship wait for 10 thing goes... I don't think that's a good plan when a Lumia 640 is about $100 and the 640 XL is around $200-250...

If I was told you can have the brand new iPhone7, straight off the presses, sight unseen, same for the Android both Gold plated, only ones of their kind that no one else has. Or, a brand new Lumia Icon. Pick one, free of charge.

I'll take the Icon, thanks.

But the basic design of the interface is virtually identical, what is it that you like in 8.1 that made you like it so much more than 8? You didn't specify. I'm playing devils advocate a little here because I'm a fan of WP, but the difference between the various versions is minimal, not that that is a bad thing, but still, very minor differences really.

I am not hate the WP, I like the UI of WP.

but I just don't expect this from microsoft (biggest software manufacturing company) they even don't give smart search in dialer while in android I have phone number lookup option too (eg. if you don't have your nearest mcdonald number you have to type mcdonald in your dialer it will give you number).

In Rs. 15k (in india) they even don't give usb cable while in india Rs. 5k android phone comes with usb cable.

I add some mp3 files on my WP and the default music app shows all but gives me error this file can not play and gives some errors so I have to delete all the files and again add and then after few hours it plays.

if I add some Videos file play in default video player and then if I delete it from any file manager, the video player still show that file and if I click on it. it will show that there is no Internet connection so we can not play file.

now told me the reason Why I suggest anybody to buy WP.

Your statements here are not helping your cause any.

We get you had a bad experience. We get you have expectations that are not being met. We get that you won't recommend WP to anyone. So my question is as I asked before, if you dislike it so much why are you here?

You stated it's 'not a smartphone' even though it fits all the criteria for one. You complain about bugs in apps, which happens on any platform. You complain about updates which is true. You complain and complain and complain some more.

In what way does this not come across as hate or dislike? Where in anything you've written is there any positives?

Yes, WP isn't for everyone. Just like Android isn't. Just like iOS isn't. This is the reason for choice.

I have used everything. An iphone for a couple of years, a lot of androids, started off at symbian and I even had windows mobile 6.1 all these years back. So I'm not a ******. I have invested money on each appstore, I can switch freely. The only thing I want is a phone that works and does what I want.

I thought my Iphone 4S was great, it's a few years old but still runs newest iOS. It has an app for everything and everybody who builds an app will support iOs. I thought it felt great in hand. I could get used to the homescreen and interface. There's two issues, battery life (I want to be able to skip a night of charing) and price. I got the iphone for free, but when I wanted to upgrade i saw that I would have to pay at least 300EUR for the cheapest iphone 5c which would be the same as my 4S appart from a little bigger screen. I know the internal hardware is better but the 4S could cope fine with anything I threw at it. So no more Apple for me unless I get one for free again.

My latest android was a Moto G 4G. I really liked it. It was right up my price range (I don't want to spend 500EUR for a phone anymore, those days are over) and I liked the bump cover. It was bulky though. Put for it's price it had a very smooth operations. What I dislike is that for the most part you are bound to the producer of your phone for OS updates. They will not release the latest OS version even though your phone is perfectly capable. It also takes ages before it gets released. I dislike the crapware installed. That is also why I liked my Moto G, it was very clean andorid and updates were promised allthough arrived quite late. Android is very customziable, while I like this, I also like stuff to just work. I don't want "customziable" be the same as "having to spend hours to get stuff to work". Yes Tasker is great, yes rooting is great, yes flashing any firmware is great, but I see this more as a hobby for a geek then as featurs that are improtant in a smartphone for 98% of the people. It is great that you can swap any component (the app drawar, the lockscreen, the homescreen etc...) with something your own style, but this also comes with the drawback that a lot of stuff doesn't work together exactly as you would like, bugs etc... A bad point again is battery life, while Moto G was good in this regard, it was not 2 days. Again was obsessed with turning on/off bluetooth, wifi etc.. when not needed. But I liked it, untill I dropped it too hard and it broke.

I then could get a Lumia 640 for free. I though OK let's try windows phone. I was very sceptical at first, it was 5 inch and was afraid at this price point it would be really bulky. I saw the specs and knew I would get a just decent experience (but thats ok), I thought i will be missing a lot of apps. But hey, I'm free minded and I will try anything especially for free.

Well, I have to say I am quite surprised. It's a 5" phone but it's not thick like my Moto G. I like the design (boxy, simply, no frills) but that's personal. The software is completely different again. I like how it is different but still it is good. I like the homescreen, it is like iOS but you can change the icon size and the icons actually carry information. Apart from that your locked as far as customization goes. But I like what it does so that's fine. Everything from apps that I would want is there, except for Grindr :p there is a lot of scamware in the appstore. Viber, Whatsapp, Facebook, twitter, games like GTA San Andreas, Asphal, Zombie shooters, everything is there. Very nice are the Microsoft apps. The health app is just crazingly amazing and an example of how much information you can present with the simple sliding interface of windows phone.

Next best thing is the battery, it will last for 3 days on my usage without having to bother turning off bluetooth wifi etc... it's just a joy getting in my car and my bluetooth just connects. Of course this works for ios or android too, but battery usage would suffer on the cheaper end of the phone market, while this Lumia 640 handles it nicely. The display is nice etc... but ok that was the same for the Moto G.

In the apple world you can not get perfectly good working phones like Moto G and Lumia 640 that go fast, does everything the platform has to offer with nice displays for this price. Apple just is too expensive unless you get it for free. I have enough money, I'm just a rational thinker.

The good thing about android is the customization but this comes with the price that it won't always work out the way you want. It also eats battery, it can be slower and the graphics do'nt feel as smooth as either ios or windows phone. Battery life isn't great either.

Windows phone has everything the Moto G has + better battery life.

If you want flagship phones you need ios or android but really, is that worth it? You get some extra sensors that nobody cares about or nobody supports yet. You get many more pixels that you can not see. You pay 400EUR extra for this. I do'nt think it is worth it. So for me, the best phone is a windows phone. But I will happily use something else too, I can work with everything.
