I randomly got a prompt tonight that Windows 10 Mobile build 10536 is available for download. Installed it, and it looks like it's legit. Here's two screenshots

Judging by the lack of posts about it on this forum and any official releases by Microsoft, I seem to be the only one as of right now?

How did you get this?? MS pressed the red button and backed off?? To my knowledge, they didn't press the button. Then how come you......?

No idea, I just happened to check my phone and it showed an update was ready to install. Like you, last I heard it won't be released today. Was hoping to get confirmation other's are getting the update pushed to their phones, but apparently I seem to be the only one right now.

Worth noting that this build is missing the default Messaging app. However, the Skype Messaging beta app can be downloaded and works fine as a replacement. My guess is that Microsoft is trying to push everyone to use the new Skype messaging app.

Also new options when pinning an image as a background, so you don't have to manually search for the included sample images.

Sorry guys, still trying to find out what's new in this build. It's difficult with no release notes, especially since these builds are more about bug fixes. It was updated from build 10512 on the Fast ring.

Here's a few things I have noticed so far:

  • Confirmed mobile hotspot now works
  • No more delay when opening lock screen
  • No options yet for background slideshow
  • Quiet hours quick action toggle now works (no more blinking)
  • Battery life seems good, although can't yet say for certain
  • No issues overheating when upgrading and after upgrading (although never had these problems)
  • Default messaging app was removed - can use Skype messaging
  • More options when pinning a background on the start screen
  • New "zStorage" setting - crashes when clicked
  • Insider hub is back? (Can't remember if it was in previous build)
  • Can now pinch to zoom in Maps

I hate to be the guy that says this, but "seems faster." On a more serious note, just like the more recent builds, it seems more optimized for performance.

What are the indication icons on the top in status bar? Never seen them before. The crescent symbol and wireless antenna symbol?

(Edit) oh wait. Wifi hotspot and quiet hours I guess.

Just to answer a few questions:

Yes, VPN works.
Don't see a Bluetooth folder in File Explorer.
No significant improvements to Cortana or Edge. Still no suggested websites.

Here's a few more screenshots, confirming earlier leaks a few weeks ago about build 10534:
