Has anyone found a workaround for the custom ringtone issue on W10 preview build 10536.1004.?

You have to make the mp3 file genre "ringtone" and copy into ringtone directory.
File has to be less than 350K I think.

Tried all of the suggested actions to no avail until I finally succeeded - I converted the file to m4r and made sure it wasn't longer than 40 seconds - that did it for me.

So I moved the m4r file to the ringtones foldr using File Explorer on my phone, that didn't work.
So I went to my friend, connected to his laptop, moved the m4r file from ringtones folder to desktop, than simply moved it back to the same folder and bam, it worked, looks like you just have to use your PC.

I've been looking for a work around for the past week or so, thanks. I only hope this isn't the way it is with the final mobile build. Even the ringtone apps don't work with this preview build....

We'd have to check the apps where you can download ringtones. But something with this last build prohibits you from doing such things. I'm sure hoping the final isn't like this either, not that I'm a ringtone maniac bit it's always a option to have.

Actually when I was transferring my ringtone to the ringtones folder, PC asked me If I wanted to convert the file, I choose yes and it converted my Godfather guitar.m4r into .wma file

Done that. I found in previous builds that the alarm app wanted one format and the dialler wanted another. So I copied twice.; once with conversion and once without.
