Upgrading to Build 10581 from 10512

I have read that the new version 10581 will allow an upgrade direct from another version vs going back to 8.1 then upgrading. However, I am on version 10512 on my 640XL and if I go into Settings and try and upgrade it still says my device is up to date?

Do you have to use the Insider App to get the 10581 upgrade?

True but I'm trying to do the same route as you but not getting very far!

I waited for this update to save going back to 8.1 first but it looks like I may have to Soft reset, hard reset etc it still fails on the install.

Make sure insider is installed (if you hard reset after install you will need to re-install), select fast ring and hit update. It's worked on all 3 of my devices.

Yup it was the only app I installed after the reset

It *starts* to install, just never gets into double percentages!

When selecting the option of ' Insider Fast' or ' Insider Slow' which one did you select?

You need to select Fast Ring.

Not this time. It seems to be working just fine and my contacts, photos etc were intact.

just finished and didn't have to do a hard reset either. I did have to reload the background picture due to start screen being corrupted which fixed it.
